Ohio River cleanup

City workers use a backhoe to pick up pieces of driftwood, large and small, as well as other debris from along the banks of the Ohio River. Early Monday morning, larger logs, trash and even a soccer ball, could be seen floating along the river past Gallipolis. Some of the smaller pieces of debris have collected along the banks in recent weeks. The city workers pictured were near one of the boat ramps in the Public Use Area below First Street in Gallipolis cleaning the area in preparation for the upcoming 50th annual River Recreation Festival.
