Happy 100th birthday!

Lifelong Gallipolis resident Helen McNealey West celebrated her 100th birthday Thursday afternoon with a special open house for friends and family at her home. In addition to family and friends, Tony Gallagher and Mike Brown, Gallipolis city commissioners, presented West with a proclamation from the city honoring her “upon the occasion of her 100th birthday.” Gallia County Commissioner Harold Montgomery also stopped by with a similar proclamation and also presented her with an official Gallia County flag. West was born Sept. 17, 1915, in Gallipolis, graduated from Gallia Academy High School in 1933, and enjoyed a 40-year career working as a bookkeeper at Commercial & Savings Bank of Gallipolis.
