VINCENT, Ohio — All good things must come to an end.

The Meigs volleyball team had its four-match winning streak come to an end on Monday night in Washington County, as host Warren claimed a 3-0 non-conference victory over the Maroon and Gold.

The Lady Marauders (6-8) led early in the opening game, but once the Lady Warriors (10-4) took the lead at 5-4, they never trailed again. The hosts won the first game by a 25-16 count to move ahead 1-0 in the match.

Meigs managed just one service point in the second game and fell by a 25-8 margin. MHS scored the first five points of the third game, but once WHS took the lead at 9-8, it never trailed again. The Lady Warriors capped off the 3-0 sweep with a 25-17 win in the third.

Meigs’ service attack was led by Devyn Oliver with nine points and one ace. Jordan Roush, Alliyah Pullins, Kassidy Betzing, Maddie Fields and Maddie Hendricks each marked one service point for MHS, including an ace by Roush.

Oliver also led Meigs at the net with five kills and five assists. Betzing posted two kills and one block, while Pullins, Paige Denney and Devin Humphreys each finished with two kills. Pullins and Oliver led the MHS defensive effort with two digs apiece.

Warren — which has now won three straight matches — was led by Julia Hamrick with nine kills, followed by Erin Bogard with six kills and two blocks. Victoria Lewis posted a team-best 19 assists, while Katelynn Knowlton had a match-leading 14 digs.

Meigs will try to bounce back, on Tuesday at Wellston, and then the Lady Marauders will host Alexander, on Thursday.
