WATERFORD, Ohio — The young South Gallia High School volleyball team made the Waterford Wildcats work, but the visiting Lady Rebels were swept by Waterford in a Tri-Valley Conference Hocking Division volleyball match on Thursday night.

The Wildcats, the defending division champion and current TVC-Hocking leader, won with a 25-7, 26-24 and 25-19 sweep.

The loss left South Gallia at 2-10 — and 2-6 in the conference.

The Lady Rebels’ sophomore middle hitter, Rachal Colburn, enjoyed an all-around good game — spearheading South Gallia in four statistical categories.

Colburn collected team-highs with eight service points, eight kills, five aces and was 7-of-9 in blocking.

Taylor Burnette served for seven service points and three aces, as she and Olivia Hornsby each set for six assists.

Burnette also had six digs, as Hornsby had four service points and Christine Griffith a single block.

Erin Evans added six kills, two aces and four service points.

The Lady Rebels return to the road, and return to TVC-Hocking Division action, on Monday night at Federal Hocking.
