GALLIPOLIS, Ohio — Buoyed by four scores of 43 or better, the Point Pleasant High School golf team captured a triangular match on Tuesday — winning over visiting Wahama and host River Valley at Cliffside Golf Club in Gallipolis.
The Black Knights notched a team score of 168, while Wahama had a 253.
River Valley, which only had three golfers competing, did not record a team score.
The Black Knights and Wahama had seven players participating apiece — with the top four scores counting towards the team total.
For the Black Knights, five individuals all shot in the 40s —as senior co-captains Doug Workman and Matt Martin were the match medalists with five-over-par 41s.
Two brothers — Dylan Tayengco and Bryce Tayengco — both fired 43s for the other two counting scores.
They were also the medalist runners-up.
The non-counting cards for Point Pleasant were Colby Martin with a 48, Haley Pierson with a 56 and Dalton Dangerfield with a 63.
For River Valley, Aaron Burke posted a career-low 45, while Grant Gilmore managed a 50 and Gabe Gilmore a 64.
Wahama was led by Anthony Ortiz with a 57, followed by a pair of 64s from Jase Heckaman and Gage Smith.
Destiny Sayre shot a 68 for the fourth White Falcon counting score.
Three White Falcons — Walter Stanhope, Tori Robinson and Megan Roush — each had a 72.
Wahama will host Eastern and South Gallia in a Tri-Valley Conference Hocking Division match on Monday — and the Black Knights will join them.
Tee-off time for the four-team outing is set for 4:30 p.m. at Riverside Golf Course in Mason (W. Va).
