ZANESVILLE, Ohio — The Eastern girls took fifth and the boys finished 20th at the John Glenn STS-95 Track and Field Classic, on Friday night at the Maysville Athletic Complex.
Steubenville won the girls team title with a score 84, followed by Sycamore (67.66) and West Holmes (58.66). The Lady Eagles scored 52 and finished in fifth place out of 24 teams.
The EHS 4x100m relay team of Annalisa Boano, Brittney Leach, Kelsey Johnson and Laura Pullins (52.70) and the 4x200m relay team of Boano, Johnson, Jessica Cook and Pullins (1:50.50) both finished third, while the team of Cook, Ally Durst, Taylor Parker and Rhiannon Morris (10:28.10) finished eighth in the 4x800m relay.
Cook earned the Lady Eagles’ lone top finish of the day, winning the 800m run with a time of 2:25. Alia Hayes was second in the discus throw (120-6) and fourth in the shot put (33-10.75), Pullins was second in the high jump (5-4) and sixth in the 400m dash (1:01.9), while Sabrina Lauer was fifth in the discus throw (102-3) and Boano was seventh in the 100m dash (13.10).
Sycamore won the boys team title with a scored of 116, followed by Fairfield Union (71) and Zanesville (62). Out of 24 teams, EHS finished 20th with a score of eight.
All eight of the Eagles points came from junior Jett Facemyer, who was second in the 800m run with a time of 2:00.9.
