Point Pleasant competes in Fenton Relays

WILLIAMSTOWN, W.Va. — The Point Pleasant boys track and field team took ninth, while the PPHS girls team finished 10th in the Fenton Relays, at the Jack Jones Track and Field Facility, on Tuesday.

The boys team competition was won by host Williamstown (74), followed by Ripley (56) and Parkersburg South (50). Doddridge County (44) was fourth, Marietta and St. Mary’s tied for fifth with 39 each, while Wheeling Central (22) was seventh and Belpre (20) was eighth. The Black Knights scored 19 points and finished ninth, Fort Frye and Wirt County tied for 10th with 16, while Parkersburg rounded out the 12-team field with eight.

The PPHS shot put relay team of Cody Mitchell, Seth Stewart and Joesph Clark claimed first place with a combined distance of 134-1.25, while Point Pleasant’s discus relay team of Mitchell, Alex Gibbs and Jesse Gleason was third (385-1).

The Black Knights’ 800m sprint medley team of Grant Safford, Cason Payne, Sheb Harris and Justin Brumfield was fifth (1:43.3), while the pole vault relay team of Trevor Hawkins, Tate Hawkins and Andrew Flowers was sixth (9-6).

The girls team competition was won by Parkersburg with 84, followed by Williamstown (57), Ripley (51) and Doddridge County (45). Parkersburg South (42) was fifth, Wheeling Central (33) was sixth, Marietta (24) claimed seventh, St. Mary’s (22) was eighth, while Fort Frye (18) took ninth. The Lady Knights were 10th with a total of 15, while Wirt County rounded out the 11-team field with 12.

The Point Pleasant discus relay team of Aislyn Hayman, Morgan Roush and Lexy Toth was second with combined distance of 280-2, while the shot put relay team of Hayman, Roush and Gabby Koons was fifth with a combined distance of 85-10.25. Also in the field events, the PPHS long jump relay team of Carlee Dabney, Kyla Scott and Brianna Reymond was sixth with a combined distance of 38-7.75.

The Lady Knights’ team of Reymond, Scott, Dabney and Teagan Hay was sixth in the 4x100m relay (53.80), the team of Hay, Scott, Madison Hatfield and Sydnee Moore was sixth in the 4x200m relay (1:55.3), the quartet of Hay, Hatfield, Moore and Allison Henderson was sixth in the 4x400m relay (4:36.24), while the team of Hederson, Ashlie Flory, Lexi Watkins-Lovejoy and Cierra Beatty was sixth in the 4x1600m relay (26:51).
