CENTENARY, Ohio —Two for two, and now on to the next round.
That’s because the Gallia Academy High School wrestling squad captured a pair of victories on Wednesday night — as part of the annual Ohio High School Athletic Association regional dual team tournament.
Gallia Academy hosted the four-team quarterfinal field, as it is the second seed in Region 13.
The Blue Devils defeated Morgan 48-28, then won over Fairfield Union 43-28.
With the wins, Gallia Academy advances to next Wednesday’s (Feb. 3) OHSAA regional dual team tournament semifinals at top-seeded New Lexington.
Against Morgan, GAHS won eight matches worth six points apiece — four via pinfall and four via forfeit.
The Blue Devils’ lightweight trio of Caleb Greenlee at 106 pounds, Kyle Greenlee at 113 and Jared Stevens at 120 all won by pin, as did Kaleb Crisenbery at 145.
Caleb Greenlee (60 seconds), Kyle Greenlee (35 seconds), Stevens (30 seconds) and Crisenbery (91 seconds) all won their contests in a minute-and-a-half or less.
Morgan Stanley at 126, Hunter Jacks at 170, Ryan Terry at 182 and Justin Reynolds at 195 all won by forfeit.
Morgan won six matches for its 28 points, including a pair of pins, a pair of decisions, a major decision and a forfeit at heavyweight.
Facing Fairfield Union, the Blue Devils claimed six pinfall victories for 36 of its 43 points — with all six pins coming in a minute and 33 seconds or less.
Caleb Greenlee (26 seconds at 106), Kyle Greenlee (88 seconds at 113), Stevens (83 seconds at 120), Stanley (93 seconds at 126), Isaiah Holley (57 seconds at 132) and Anthony Sipple (33 seconds at 220) scored pinfalls.
Reynolds — at 195 pounds — gained four points with an 11-3 major decision over Andrew McCandish.
Crisenbery claimed a 6-5 three-point decision victory over Donnie Waldrop at 152.
The Falcons won two matches by pinfall, one via forfeit, two by decision and one by major decision.
In the opening two matches on Wednesday, Morgan defeated Jackson 51-21 and Fairfield Union crushed Vinton County 72-6.
Jackson’s only wins were by Tyler Storms at 152 (pinfall), Caleb Storms at 145 (3-2 decision), Ben Dailey at 195 (forfeit) and Brandon Queen at 126 (forfeit).
Vinton County captured its only victory when Mason Hamric had a 30-second pinfall at 106.
Gallia Academy will wrestle again at Williamstown on Saturday starting at 9 a.m.
