PROCTORVILLE, Ohio — The road has not been kind to the Blue Devils.
The Gallia Academy boys basketball team fell to 1-5 in road games while dropping its third straight decision Tuesday night following a 77-55 setback to host Fairland in an Ohio Valley Conference contest in Lawrence County.
The visiting Blue Devils (4-6, 3-4 OVC) ran into the unfortunate side of an early hot hand, as the Dragons (8-2, 6-0) stormed out to a 22-11 first quarter advantage and never looked back.
GAHS, however, received eight points from Justin Peck and six more from Wes Jarrell during a 20-17 run in the second canto, allowing the Blue and White to close to within 39-31 at the break.
Fairland held that Gallia Academy duo to just six points the rest of the way, and the Green and White made a small 20-15 run in the third to secure a 59-46 cushion headed into the finale.
The Dragons made only 6-of-14 free throws in the fourth, but the hosts closed regulation on an 18-9 surge to wrap up the 22-point triumph.
