McARTHUR, Ohio — Gallia Academy had nine grapplers finish in the top six of their respective weight classes, which helped the Blue Devils claim the 2015 VFW Post 5299 Wrestling Invitational title Saturday at Vinton County High School.
GAHS came away with five of the 14 individual champions from the different divisions, giving the Blue Devils a final tally of 277 team points. Westfall was the overall runner-up out of 16 teams with 255 points, while Zane Trace (169.5), Vinton County (147) and Unioto (140) rounded out the top five spots.
Kyle Greenlee went 5-0 overall and scored five pinfall wins while claiming the 113-pound title, while Anthony Sipple was a perfect 6-0 with five pinfalls in winning the 220 weight class. Kaleb Crisenberry also went 5-0 and had three pinfall wins at 145 pounds.
Jared Stevens (120) and Hunter Jacks (160) both won their respective divisions with identical efforts of 4-0 and three pinfalls each.
Caleb Greenlee (106) and Justin Reynolds (182) both earned runner-up efforts for GAHS in their respective weight classes, while Isaiah Holley (132) and Justin Reynolds (182) both finished third overall in their divisions.
Meigs finished 12th overall with 79 team points and had a trio of grapplers earn top six efforts, including one individual weight class champion.
Trae Hood posted one pinfall win and a perfect 4-0 record to walk away with the 195-pound championship. Daniel Hysell was third at 285 pounds and Nathaniel Gearheart was also fifth overall in the 138 division.
Eastern was also at the event, with the Eagles placing 15th overall with 23 points. Both Dillon Aeiker (113) and Jesse Morris (182) came away with sixth place finishes in their respective weight classes.
