FLORENCE, Ind. — Jarod Lemaster carded a 6-over par 77 on Tuesday to help the University of Rio Grande nail down eighth place in the River States Conference Men’s Golf Fall Preview, which ended its two-day run at the Belterra Resort.
Lemaster, a sophomore from Jackson, Ohio, vaulted 15 positions in the individual standings based on his strong showing and finished in a three-way tie for 11th place.
As a team, Rio maintained the No. 8 position it held after Monday’s action with a two-day total of 104-over par 672.
The RedStorm finished two shots behind Ohio Christian for seventh place and five shots ahead of ninth-place finisher Point Park.
First round co-leader Indiana University Kokomo won the team title with a 56-over par total of 624 – five shots better than runner-up Brescia University. West Virginia University-Tech rounded out the top three at 634, while first round co-leader Asbury University suffered a 42-over par on Tuesday and dropped all the way to fourth.
In addition to Lemaster, the others representing Rio in the finale of the fall schedule included freshman Colton Blakeman (Piketon, OH), who closed as part of a three-way tie for 29th place at 24-over par total of 166; freshman Levi Chapman (Pomeroy, OH), who tied for 40th place at 173; junior Logan Sheets, who totaled 174 for a 42nd place finish; and sophomore Patrick England (Peebles, OH), who tied for 43rd place at 175.
Indiana Kokomo’s Sam Seagrave took top individual honors with a 7-over par total of 149, posting a two-stroke win over Brescia’s Daniel Steele.
