JACKSON, Ohio — Not as much fun the second time around.

After claiming a 5-3 win at Lester Field back on September 22, the Gallia Academy soccer team ran into a very different beast Thursday night as host Jackson claimed a 7-1 victory in a Southeastern Ohio Athletic League match at Alumni Stadium in the Apple City.

The visiting Blue Devils (5-10-1, 1-9-0 SEOAL) trailed 3-0 at the half and were never closer than 3-1 in the 42nd minute of regulation, which came about on a penalty kick goal by Zach Johnson.

The Ironmen (2-14-0, 1-9-0) followed with four unanswered goals over the next 25 minutes, allowing the Red and White to wrap up the six-goal triumph.

JHS outshot the Blue and White by a sizable 28-5 overall margin. Eric Fahrer made three saves for the victors, while Caden Wilt stopped a dozen shots in net for GAHS.

Devon Ball and Reason Padgett each recorded a hat trick for the Ironmen, while Quinton Haislop also scored once for the hosts. Padgett, Ball, Zach Vanco, Hunter Cardiff, Ryan Exline, Michael Benson and Wyatt Hemsley also had an assist each for Jackson.

The Blue Devils open tournament play at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, when they host South Point in a Division II sectional final at Lester Field.
