GA runners fare well at OVC meet

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio — Rock Hill boys and Fairland girls cross country teams earned top honors in their respective events during the 2015 Ohio Valley Conference Championships on Tuesday at Earl Thomas Conley Park in Scioto County.

The Redmen and Fairland ended the event with 36 points, but Rock Hill had the tiebreaker and walked away with the victory. Gallia Academy, who made its first ever appearance in the OVC Championships, took third place with 63 points. Rock Hill’s Seth Miller paced the field of 72 with a time of 17:01.10.

Kaleb Crisenberry (17:43.33) led the Blue Devils with a third place finish, followed by Kyle Greenlee (17:55.09) in fifth place. Caleb Greenlee (18:35.11) placed 12th, while Kobe Cochran (19:40.19) and Devon Barnes (19:54.87) finished in 21st and 22nd respectively. Cade Mason (20.18.08) finished in 25th and Ethan Rider took 26th place for Gallia Academy.

The Lady Dragons took the girls event with 34 points — with three runners finishing in the top-10 — followed by Gallia Academy (41) in second and Rock Hill (58) in third. Gallia Academy’s Mary Watts paced the field of 38 with a time of 20:07.64.

Mesa Polcyn (20:18.35) took second for the Blue Angels, followed by Abby Cremeans (24:28.38) in 13th place. Cassidy Starnes (24:55.84) finished in 17th place, while Hayley Petrie (25:55.39) and Sabrina Manygoats (25:57.48) placed 19th and 20th respectively.
