CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Unioto boys and girls cross country teams took top honors at the 2015 Unioto Invitational on Saturday in Ross County.
The Shermans won the boys event with 56 points — with two runners finishing in the top-10 — followed by Fairfield with 59 points. Logan Elm finished third in the event with 118 points. River Valley finished fourth with 159 points, while Gallia Academy (249) finished eighth and Meigs (280) finished 10th. Unioto’s David Magda paced the field of 245 with a time of 15:35.
Jacob Kemper (16:50) led the Raiders’ efforts with an 18th place finish. Sophomore Nathaniel Abbott (16:56.40) placed 22nd, followed by Chance Gillman (17:12.30) and Garrett Young (17:17.80) in 29th and 35th place respectively. George Rickett (17:50.90) placed 60th, while Caleb Mcknight (18:31.40) finished 94th. Ben Moody (19:18.50) rounded out the Silver and Black’s efforts with a 116th place finish.
The Blue Devils were led by Kyle Greenlee (16:38.20) with a 12th place finish. Caleb Greenlee (17:43.20) took 52nd place, while Devon Barnes (18:23.30) finished 86th and Cade Mason (18:47.20) finished 96th. Kobe Cochran (19:01) placed 103rd, while Ethan Rider (19:13.10) finished 111th. Tanner Allen (19:32.80) finished 126th for the Blue and White.
Jacob Swindell (17:08.80) paced the Maruaders with a 27th place finish, followed by James Parsons (17:35.90) in 47th place. Junior Dillon Mahr (17:48.30) placed 57th for the Maroon and Gold. Cole Betzing (18:16) took 82nd place, while Nate Hoover (18:26) finished in 89th place. Brad Logan (19:28.60) and Joesph Cotterill (19:33.80) finished 122nd and 127th respectively for Meigs.
Eastern’s Caden Goff (20:00.90) finished in 160th place and South Gallia’s Joesph Ehman (20:03.90) finished 162nd.
The Lady Shermans took the girls event with 41 points — with four runners placing in the top-10. The Lady Eagles took second with 99 points and Zane Trace finished third with 154 points. The Lady Raiders finished eighth with 253 points. The Blue Angels finished 10th with 268 points, while the Lady Marauders placed 15th with 335 points. Unioto’s Haley Wright paced the field of 184 with a time of 18:11.10.
Jessica Cook (19:05.50) led Eastern with a seventh place finish, while Laura Pullins (19:25) and Ally Durst (19:38) finished 12th and 14th respectively. Taylor Parker (20:41.20) placed 28th for the Green and Gold. Kaitlyn Hawk (21:23.90) took 47th place, followed by Brittany Long (21:29.30) in 49th place. Rhiannon Morris (21:46.20) rounded out Eastern’s efforts with a 59th place finish.
The Lady Raiders were led by a 18th place finished from Kenzie Baker (19:56.30). Ieva Katkauskaite (21:04.80) placed 40th, followed by Julia Nutter (22:12.40) in 67th place. Bailey Hollingsworth (22:37) finished 75th, while Leanne Hively (22:59.20) and Josie Jones (23:00.40) finished 82nd and 84th respectively. Hannah Nutter (23:50.70) placed 101st for the Silver and Black.
Mesa Polcyn (18:51.60) led Gallia Academy with a fourth place finish, followed by Mary White (18:55.30) in sixth place. Freshman Abby Cremeans (22:56.20) finished 79th, while Cassidy Starnes (23:13) placed 91st. Elizabeth Evans (25:17) took 129th place, while Caitlyn Caldwell (25:57.20) and Sabrina Manygoats (26:25.90) finished 143rd and 148th respectively for the Blue and White.
Gracie Hoffman (20:04.10) led Meigs with a 19th place finish. Caitlyn Rest (22:18.80) placed 68th and Taylor Swartz (22:58.30) finished 80th. Senior Sadie Fox (23:55.60) took 103rd place, while Carmen Doherty (24:05.60) and Ariann Sizemore (25:17.10) finished in 108th and 130th respectively. Madelyn Hill (26:26.20) placed 150th for the Maroon and Gold.
South Gallia’s Kelsey Corbin (22:28.20) finished 70th overall.
