IRONTON, Ohio — Blue Angels feeling right at home on the road.
For the third time this week the Gallia Academy visited Lawrence County and came away with a Ohio Valley Conference victory. After defeating Chesapeake on Monday and Fairland on Tuesday, both by 3-1 tallies, the Blue Angels — who are ranked 15 in the OHSVCA Division II Poll — claimed all three games from host Ironton on Wednesday.
Gallia Academy (13-0, 10-0 OVC) never trailed in the night’s opening game and were sparked to the 25-11 victory by 10 consecutive service points from junior Carly Shriver. The Blue Angels also led from wire-to-wire in the second game, posting a 25-14 victory to move ahead 2-0 in the match.
The Lady Tigers managed to tie the third game at four, but were never able to claim a lead, as GAHS took a 25-16 win and a match sweep.
Shriver led the Blue Angels with 18 points and two aces, followed by Brooke Pasquale with nine points and one ace. Ashton Webb finished with eight points and three aces, Jenna Meadows added eight points and two aces, Grace Martin contributed four points, while Abby Wood posted one point in the win.
Webb led the GAHS net attack with 15 kills, followed by Martin with nine and Walker with seven. Meadows and Ryleigh Caldwell each posted four kills, Hanna Johnson added three, while Shriver contributed one. Martin posted five blocks to lead the Blue Angels’ net defense, while Walker and Johnson each added two blocks. Meadows posted a team-high 11 digs, followed by Martin with 10, while Shriver led the Blue Angels with 21 assists.
On Tuesday, Gallia Academy defeated Fairland 3-1, by counts of 25-9, 20-25, 25-19 and 25-11. Shriver led GAHS against the Lady Dragons with 14 points including seven aces. Walker had 12 points and two aces, Martin added nine points and five aces, while Meadows chipped in with eight points and two aces.
Walker led the Blue Angels at the net with 12 kills and one block, followed by Martin with nine kills and one block. Martin led the defense with 11 digs, while Shriver marked a team-high 23 assists.
Gallia Academy also defeated Fairland and Ironton in Centenary on August 24, and September 14 respectively.
After visiting Jackson on Thursday in a Southeastern Ohio Athletic League matchup, GAHS will return to action on Wednesday at Rock Hill.
