CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — The River Valley boys finished fourth and the girls placed 12th at the 2017 Circleville Kiwanis Cross Country Inivitational held Saturday in Pickaway County.
The Raiders — who totaled 135 points as a team — were 65 points off the pace set by boys team champion Watterson, who tallied 70 points. Fairfield Union (100) and Waverly (131) rounded out the top three spots in the 19-team field.
Nathaniel Abbott paced RVHS with a fifth place finish of 17:08.1, followed by Rory Twyman (18:07.7) and Austin Livingston (18:27.0) with respective placements of 25th and 35th.
Kyle Coen (18:35.0) was next in 37th place, while George Rickett (18:48.5) completed the Raider tally by finishing 41st. Cole Franklin (19:06.3) and Caleb McKnight (19:55.9) also placed 52nd and 77th out of 203 competitors.
Beau Boyden of Fisher Catholic won the boys race with a time of 16:25.1. Keifer Mosmeier of Logan Elm was the runner-up with a mark of 16:34.7.
The Lady Raiders tallied 268 points, which placed them 12th out of 20 competing teams. Fairfield Union won the girls event with 47 points, while Chillicothe (84) and Zane Trace (128) rounded out the top three spots.
Kenzie Baker led RVHS with a 14th place effort of 21:09.1, followed by Hannah Culpepper (22:57.7) and Josie Jones (23:43.8) with respective finishes of 40th and 56th.
Akari Michimukai (25:11.8) was next in 84th place, while Julia Nutter (26:35.3) completed the team scoring by finishing 115th. Lexi Stout (29:12.3) and Connie Stewart (30:42.3) also placed 151st and 168th overall out of 193 competitors.
Heather Lecrone of Fairfield Union won the girls race with a time of 19:02.3. Anna Foster of Sheridan was the overall runner-up with a mark of 19:23.5.
