MAYSVILLE, Ohio — Another event cut short because of weather, but the Lady Eagles still had time to claim two individual championships and two runner-up finishes at the Dan Adams Classic, on Friday.
With 13 events scored before the event was ended to do weather, Westerville Central won the girls team competition with a score of 115.85. John Glenn was second with 49, followed by Eastern with 36. A total of 15 teams scored in the girls competition.
EHS senior Alia Hayes earned both of the Lady Eagles’ championships, winning the discus throw with a distance of 124 feet, 6 inches, and taking the shot put with a distance of 37-6.25. Hayes’ margin of victory was 10-2 in the discus and 1-1.5 in the shot put.
Eastern senior Laura Pullins was second in the 400m dash with a time of 1:02.3, just 1.27 seconds off of the pace.
The Lady Eagle relay team of Pullins, Jessica Cook, Ally Durst and Taylor Parker was second in the 4x800m relay with a time of 10:07, an even 17 seconds behind the winning quartet for Westerville Central, but more than 40 seconds ahead of the rest of the field.
With 11 events tallied, the boys team competition was won by St. Clairsville with a score of 62.11. Next was Sheridan at 49, followed by Claymont with 46.22. The EHS boys team did not compete at the event.
The Dan Adams Classic is formerly known as the John Glenn STS-95.
