The Eastern boys basketball team never trailed en route to a 50-32 victory over Tri-Valley Conference Hocking Division host Federal Hocking, on Tuesday night inside McInturf Gymnasium.
The Eagles (2-2, 2-1 TVC Hocking) led 13-to-4 after one quarter of play. EHS outscored the Lancers (0-6, 0-3) by a 12-to-6 clip in the second period, and the guests took a 25-10 lead into the half.
The Green, White and Gold pushed its lead to as much as 22 in the second half, and Eastern cruised to a 50-32 victory.
For the game, Eastern held a 29-to-23 advantage in rebounding, including 10-to-7 on the offensive glass. EHS committed 10 turnovers — five fewer than FHHS.
Eastern shot 21-of-43 (48.8 percent) from the field, including 1-of-4 (25 percent) from the three-point line. Federal Hocking made 14-of-39 (35.9 percent) field goal attempts, including 1-of-6 (16.7 percent) from beyond the arc. EHS made 7-of-12 (58.3 percent) free throw attempts, while FHHS was 3-of-12 (25 percent) from the stripe.
EHS senior Jett Facemyer led all scorers with 24 points, followed by Jon Wolfe with 12 points. Sharp Facemyer scored eight points for the victors, Corbett Catlett added four, while Garrett Barringer scored two points.
Wolfe and Catlett each pulled in six rebounds to lead EHS, while Sharp Facemyer had five boards and Jett Facemyer added four. Sharp Facemyer had a game-best five assists, while Jett Facemyer marked three helpers.
Wolfe also led the EHS defense with four steals, followed by Catlett with three steals and Barringer with two blocks.
Federal Hocking was led by Deakin Hatfield with with 10 points.
The Eagles and Lancers will meet again on January 24, in Tuppers Plains.
Eastern returns to action on Friday, when 1-1 Wahama visits ‘The Nest’.
