VINCENT, Ohio — The River Valley wrestling team had eight placers, including one champion, as the Raiders claimed third in the Hickory Grove Market Invitational, hosted by Warren High School on Saturday.
The host Warriors won the team title with a total of 308. Athens took second with 247, followed by RVHS (214), Williamstown (178), New Lexington (113) and Trimble (109). Caldwell (70) finished seventh, Fort Frye (62) was eighth, followed by Federal Hocking (52), Waterford (34), Marietta (25) and Belpre (23).
The Raiders’ lone champion on the day was 113-pound sophomore Jacob Edwards, who won all four of his bouts.
River Valley had four second place finishers with Jeremiah Dobbins and Dakota Doss turning in 4-1 records in the 145 and 220 classes respectively. Going 3-1 and finishing second for RVHS were Joseph Burns in the 120-pound category, and Grant Gilmore in the 170 class.
RVHS sophomores Eric Weber and Nathan Michael both earned third place, as Weber went 4-1 in the 160 class and Michael was 2-2 at 152 pounds.
River Valley’s lone four place finish came from Zach Stein, who went 2-2 at 195 pounds.
