Three seniors from the Ohio Valley Publishing area have been chosen as all-Tri-Valley Conference Ohio Division volleyball — as the 2016 all-conference club was announced on Monday.
The Meigs Lady Marauders had two honorees and the River Valley Lady Raiders had one — as the OVP trio is all seniors.
For Meigs, which finished fifth in the TVC Ohio at 5-7, setter Devyn Oliver and outside hitter Alliyah Pullins made the team — while winless (0-12) River Valley was represented by setter Angel Toler.
Oliver, in fact, repeated to the all-league squad from both 2014 and 2015.
Athens and Alexander, the division co-champions at 11-1, placed five players apiece on the all-TVC Ohio list.
Nelsonville-York, which went 7-5 for third place, had three honorees — while Wellston went 6-6 and tied Meigs with two picks.
Vinton County (2-10) swept the Lady Raiders for its only league wins — and was represented on the team by freshman middle hitter Maylea Huff.
Alexander took two of the three top awards, as senior defensive specialist and libero Nicole Hudnall was named Defensive Player of the Year, while Jonna Shimko captured Coach of the Year.
Naomi Oberg, a senior middle blocker from Athens, was the Offensive Player of the Year.
Joining Hudnall on the all-league list from Alexander were four other seniors — Sydney Davis, Jala Mace, Hunter Markins and Jenna Terry.
Davis, Mace and Terry all repeated from a year ago, while Davis and Mace made the team two years back (2014) as well.
Oberg of Athens also repeated from last year, as she was joined on this year’s list by fellow Bulldog senior Mackenzie Heller — and juniors Sierra Smith, Serena Smith and Gabby Carey.
Nelsonville-York’s trio of honorees were senior Sam Taylor, senior Jordan Fick and junior Sidney Fick.
Paige O’Neill and Emma Ousley, both seniors, were Wellston’s two selections.
Sidney Fick made the all-league unit in 2014, while Wellston’s O’Neill repeated from last year.
The all-TVC Ohio team and subsequent honors are chosen by the division’s coaches.
