Gallia County 4-H Scholarship recipients announced


GALLIA COUNTY — Gallia County 4-H recently announced scholarship recipients. They are as follows:

Cody Mathias is the 2022 recipient of the Vic and Mary Walker-Niday scholarship. This scholarship totals $4,000 and is awarded over four years. He is also the 2022 recipient of the Gallia County 4-H Horse Scholarship, a one-year, $500 scholarship. Cody is the son of Robert and Jennifer Mathias. He is a member of Pegasus 4-H Club and the Gallia Shooting Aces 4-H Club and attends Ohio Valley Christian School. Cody plans to attend Missouri State University and major in History Secondary Education and hopes to become a college professor of history.

Katelynn Higginbotham is the 2022 recipient of the Ohio Valley Bank scholarship. This scholarship totals $3,000 and is awarded over four years. She is also a 2022 recipient of the Gallia County CARTEENS scholarship, a one year, $500 scholarship. Katelynn is the daughter of Jeremy and Britt Higginbotham. She is a member of the Sundance Kids 4-H club and attends Ohio Valley Christian School. Katelynn plans to attend Grand Canyon University or Liberty University to pursue a degree in Business Management and hopes to start her own photography business.

Haleigh Conant is a 2022 recipient of the Wiseman Agency scholarship. This scholarship totals $2,000 and is awarded over four years. She is also a 2022 recipient of the Gallia County CARTEENS scholarship, a one year, $500 scholarship. Haleigh is the daughter of Brian and Teresa Taylor. She is a member of the Sundance Kids 4-H Club and attends River Valley High School. Haleigh plans to attend the University of Rio Grande and hopes to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.

Braden McGuire is a 2022 recipient of the Wiseman Agency scholarship. This scholarship totals $2,000 and is awarded over four years. Braden is the son of Keith and Janet McGuire. He is a member of For His Glory 4-H Club and attends River Valley High School. Braden plans to attend college to pursue a degree in Sports Management.

Jerah Justice is a 2022 recipient of the Gallia County Agricultural Center scholarship. This scholarship totals $2,000 and is awarded over four years. Jerah is the daughter of Joseph and Crystal Justice. She is a member of the Rodney Rangers 4-H club and the Gallipolis FFA Chapter. Jerah plans to attend the University of Rio Grande and pursue a degree in Education.

Kelsey Price is a 2022 recipient of the Gallia County Agricultural Center scholarship. This scholarship totals $2,000 and is awarded over four years. She is also a 2022 recipient of the Gallia County CARTEENS scholarship- a one year, $500 scholarship. Kelsey is the daughter of Bret and Jenna Price. She is a member of the Raccoon Valley Livestock 4-H Club and the River Valley FFA Chapter. Kelsey plans to attend The Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute and pursue a degree in Agriculture Marketing.

Bailey Barnette is the 2022 recipient of the Gallia County Agricultural Society (Fair Board) scholarship. This scholarship totals $2,000 and is awarded over four years. Bailey is the daughter of BJ and Sally Barnette. She is a member of Country to the Core 4-H Club and attends Gallia Academy High School. Bailey plans to attend the University of Findlay to major in Biology and hopes to become a dentist.

William Hendrickson is the 2022 recipient of the Brent and Teresa Eastman scholarship. This scholarship totals $2,000 and is awarded over four years. William is the son of Brian and Sherry Hendrickson. He is a member of Rodney Rangers 4-H club and the Gallipolis FFA chapter. William plans to attend college to pursue a degree in Agribusiness.

Jaela Foster is the 2022 recipient of the Slone Family Scholarship in Memory of Sheryl Slone. This is a one year, $500 scholarship. Jaela is the daughter of Mindy and Howard Foster. She is a member of Triangle 4-H club and the Gallipolis FFA chapter. Jaela plans to attend The Ohio State University ATI and major in Animal Sciences.

Alivia Lear is the 2022 recipient of the Gallia County 4-H Advisors Association Scholarship. This is a one year, $500 scholarship. Alivia Lear is the daughter of Scott and Marie Lear. She is a member of Country to the Core 4-H Club and the Gallipolis FFA chapter. Alivia plans to attend Ohio University and major in Early Childhood Special Education.

John E. Santos is the 2022 recipient of the Lynn Angel Scholarship. This is a one year, $500 Scholarship. John E is the son of John and Melissa Santos. He is a member of Hope’s Helping Hands 4-H Club and the River Valley FFA Chapter. John E. plans to attend Marshall University or Kent State University and plans to become a Pre-Med major, focusing on surgery.
