RIO GRANDE – University of Rio Grande Bunce School of Education is hosting the Ohio Middle Level Association’s Regional Conference between 4:30-6:30 p.m. March 22 at Bob Evans Farms Hall Room 216.
Diane Downard, Bunce School of Education assistant professor at the University of Rio Grande, said the theme for the workshop is “Elements of Middle School Philosophy” that gives middle school teachers and students earning a degree in middle school education a chance to learn more about the components of providing a good middle school education.
“This event will include different components such as teaming, flexible scheduling, advisor advisee groups and service learning,” Downard said. “These are important parts of providing 10- to 15-year-old students with a good education.”
Downard said the Bunce School of Education is welcoming any fourth- through ninth-grade teachers and students pursuing a degree in middle school education to come to the conference to learn and exchange new information and ideas about teaching middle school students.
“I’m so excited because are students will be hosting the event and presenting some of their own ideas about middle school education. This will be first time we have had the conference at Rio,” Downard said. “It is an Ohio Middle Level Association event, but we are grateful the organization has allowed us to be the local host.”
