OSHP Gallia-Meigs post names ‘Trooper of Year’

OHIO VALLEY — Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Matthew T. Atwood has been selected 2015 Trooper of the Year at the Gallia/Meigs post.

The selection of Atwood, 23, is in recognition of outstanding service during 2015 at the Gallia/Meigs post. Fellow officers stationed at the post chose Atwood based on leadership abilities, professional ethics, courteous treatment of others, enthusiastic work attitude, and cooperation with supervisors, peers and the public.

Atwood joined the Ohio State Highway Patrol in 2014 and has served at the Gallia/Meigs post. He is originally from Jackson and a graduate of Wellston High School. Other OSHP awards received in the past include: Criminal Patrol Award in 2015.

Atwood and his wife, Josie, live in Jackson, Ohio.
