GALLIPOLIS – Due to the success of their Launchpad tablet lending program for children, Bossard Memorial Library has added five adult-level Launchpads tablets to their collection.
Launchpads tablets are pre-loaded with ad-free, fun and educational apps and games that are playable without an Internet connection. No Internet connection is available or needed on these devices. The apps on the adult-level Launchpads include solitaire, word games, sudoku, hidden object, casino-style, and brain teaser games, among many others.
Bossard Library Director Debbie Saunders reported that the library purchased the new Launchpads after she received several requests from adult patrons to add adult-level tablets to the collection.
In addition to the five newly-added adult Launchpads, a total of 40 children’s Launchpads are available for checkout. They include tablets loaded with apps and games in the pre-kindergarten to kindergarten category, as well as kindergarten to second grade, third grade to fifth grade, and fifth grade and over categories.
The original 40 Launchpads were purchased with funds donated by the Abels family as a memorial to Jean Abels.
To check out a Launchpad, patrons must be 18 years of age or older and be in good standing. Only one Launchpad may be borrowed on a patron’s account at any one time. Launchpads may be kept for 14 days, and there are no renewals. Overdue fines are $1 per day.
