Sheriff’s office investigates armed robbery

GUYAN TOWNSHIP — Gallia County Sheriff Matt Champlin has released a statement regarding a reported armed robbery and investigation which occurred on State Route 553 in Guyan Township Thursday.

According to the report, at approximately 10:10 p.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2018, the Gallia County 911 Center received a report of an armed robbery at a residence on State Route 553. When deputies responded to the scene and through the investigation, it was reportedly determined that a weapon had been brandished during the confrontation at the residence. Detectives with the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and are conducting an intensive investigation into the incident. No further details are available to be released at this time.

“It is very unfortunate that this cowardice act has occurred to one of our citizens,” said Champlin. “My thoughts and prayers go out to the victim in this matter and I am just thankful that no one was physically inured. This office will not rest until we have concluded this investigation and brought this individual to justice.”
