Body found along riverbank identified

MIDDLEPORT — The body found along the river bank in Middleport nearly two weeks ago has been identified.

Middleport Police Chief Bruce Swift told the Sentinel that the female has been identified as Airael Derifield, the woman for whom first responders were searching the evening they located the body. Swift asked for privacy for the woman’s family.

According to previous Sentinel reports, a body was located along the Ohio River bank on Sunday, Sept. 23 while the Middleport Police Department and Middleport Fire Department were searching for a missing person.

The body was taken to Montgomery County for an autopsy, with the final autopsy report not yet complete.
