RIO GRANDE, Ohio – The University of Rio Grande will present two concerts this week from the School of Arts and letters.
The university’s Jazz Ensemble will perform at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Berry Fine and Performing Arts Center.
The performance will be a tribute to the music of Edward Kennedy Ellington, “The Duke,” one of America’s greatest jazz composers whose music has become part of the cultural language. The ensemble will be feature favorites such as “Cottontail,” “Prelude to a Kiss,” and “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore.”
The Rock Ensemble will take the stage of the Berry Fine and Performing Arts Center at 8 p.m. Thursday with its fall concert featuring the music of Janis Joplin. The performance will include music from all periods of her career including from her time with Big Brother and the Holding Company, the Kozmic Blues Band, and the Full Tilt Boogie Band.
