OHIO VALLEY — A total of 6,733 job openings were posted online from August 14, 2017, through September 13, 2017, for Adams, Athens, Belmont, Carroll, Coshocton, Gallia, Guernsey, Harrison, Highland, Hocking, Holmes, Jackson, Jefferson, Lawrence, Meigs, Monroe, Morgan, Muskingum, Noble, Perry, Pike, Ross, Scioto, Vinton and Washington counties, according to data from The Conference Board on Ohiolmi.com
This was a decrease of 37 ads from the previous reporting period. Compared to the same time period a year ago, this reflects a decrease of 1,527 ads.
Adena Health Systems led the area in job ads posted with 219. Forward Air inc. followed up with 121, and Ohio University with 116. Holzer Medical Center leads Gallia county with 99 ads, with Marietta Memorial Hospital at 96. Lowe’s has 91 ads, and Holzer Health Systems at 76. HCR ManorCare follows with 73 tied with Holzer. Southern Ohio Medical Center rounds out the top ten with 72 ads posted.
The salary range for area job postings have also been updated as well. Jobs under $30,000 make up 14.7 percent of the current market. Job ads between $30,000 and $49,000 take 22.6 percent. Taking nearly half of the current market is job postings between $50,000 to $79,000 at 46.6 percent. Jobs over $80,000 make 16.2 percent.
Education required for job postings are predominantly high school diploma and an associate’s degree. A GED or high school diploma is required for 40.7 percent of job postings, and an associate level degree is required for 43.2 percent. A bachelor’s or higher is necessary for 16.2 percent.
Top occupations with most area job ads are heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers with 689 ads. Registered nurses have 319 ads posted in second. First line supervisors of retail sales workers are third at 218 ads posted, followed by retail salespersons at 173. Licensed practical and vocational nurses have 127 ad postings in the area. General maintenance and repair workers have 122, and medical and health services managers come in with 102 ads.
