OHIO VALLEY — Job seekers, as well as employers, will benefit when the Mason, Gallia and Meigs County Chambers of Commerce host the Ohio Valley Regional Job Fair.
The event will be held Aug. 15, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Trinity United Methodist Community Building, located at 615 Viand Street in Point Pleasant.
According to Hilda Austin, executive director of the Mason County Area Chamber of Commerce, over 30 employers have already registered for the fair.
“Our purpose is to offer employment opportunities to all area job seekers,” she added.
As an additional service for those seeking a job, Homer Preece, director of Marshall University’s Mid-Ohio Valley Center, is offering assistance with resume writing the day prior to the job fair, on Aug. 14. The center is located at 1 John Marshall Way in Point Pleasant.
There is no charge, and upon completion of the resume, a copy will be made to take to the job fair. Those wishing to take advantage of the service should call 304-674-7200 for an appointment.
Special guests at the job fair will be West Virginia Congressman Evan Jenkins and Ohio Congressman Bill Johnson. Jenkins is the U.S. Representative for West Virginia’s third congressional district, while Johnson is the U.S. Representative for Ohio’s sixth congressional district.
Job seekers attending the fair should bring credentials, resumes, and be prepared to interact with potential employers. The fair will provide information to job seekers on potential employment opportunities across various industries and education resources available throughout the tri-county area.
There is still time for employers to join in on the job fair. A table and two chairs will be provided for the booth space, and additional items may be made available upon request.
