GALLIA COUNTY — The Gallia County Convention and Visitors Bureau will soon be presenting the 2017 Passport Challenges beginning May 1 to encourage residents and visitors to take stock of the area’s attractions.
Gallia County residents and visitors will have the opportunity to explore Gallia and win prizes. This summer program has participants visit 10 locations. At each location, they must either take a selfie as proof or the location will stamp their special passport.
The challenges offered this year are the City Passport Challenge and the County Passport Challenge. In the City Passport Challenge, all locations will be in downtown Gallipolis, whereas the County Passport Challenge has locations throughout Gallia County.
According to Bureau Assistant Director Kaitlynn Halley, “This is our second year doing the passport challenge and one huge change is the addition of local businesses. Last year, the challenge was primarily made up of Gallia County attractions though, after receiving a lot of enthusiasm from several local businesses we decided to reach out to them, the response has been fantastic.”
Another change to the passport challenge, is the addition of prizes for completing the challenges. Like the 2016 passport challenge, all who complete the challenge will receive a drawstring bag, while supplies last, with additional prizes inside. Many of these smaller prizes are donated by local businesses such as Ohio Valley Bank, Holzer Health Systems, The Artisan Shoppe and Studio and more. This year participants who complete the challenge will be entered into a monthly drawing for big prizes, such as Silver Screen Vll gift cards, Colony Club gift certificates and Gallipolis Roller Bounce certificates.
The 2017 Passport Challenge will be open from May 1 to Sept. 5. The challenge passports can be downloaded at www.visitgallia.com or picked up at the Gallia County Convention and Visitors Bureau, 441 Second Avenue, Gallipolis.
