GALLIPOLIS — The Gallia County Junior Fair will finish the 2015 version of activities this weekend, but not before all the livestock awards and demolition derbies have taken place.
The 64th annual Market Steer Show gets under day at 9 a.m. Friday in the show arena. At the same time, the Freestyle Riding will take place in the horse arena.
At 10 a.m., the main stage will showcase the annual Pretty Baby Contest, At the same time in the show arena, the third annual Market Goat Sale will get under way.
at 10:15 a.m., the 33rd annual Tobacco Sale will start in the show arena, followed by the 57th annual Market Lamb Sale at 10:30 a.m., also in the show arena. A Horse Skill-a-thon will take place at noon in the horse arena.
The Cloverbud graduation ceremony will be at 3 p.m. in Gray Pavilion, which will also host the Small Animal Show at 5 p.m., and Activity Building Awards and a Kiddie Tractor Pull at 6 p.m.
At 7 p.m., tractor pulling competition will continue at the pulling track, and at 7:30 p.m., the Riverside Cloggers and Two River Junction will entertain the crowd on the main stage.
The fair concludes Saturday with a few events that include the 55th annual Market Hog Sale at 9 a.m. in the show arena, a Pony Pull at 11 a.m., Demolition Derbies (lawnmower, mini car semi stock, stock full size, stock full—size modified) at 5 p.m. at the pulling track, and the Zloop Country Showdown, an “American Idol”-style competition, at 8:30 p.m. on the main stage.
Admission to to the Gallia County Jr. Fair is $8, which includes rides and entertainment. Parking is free.
Permanent seating is not available for any of the entertainment shows, so people are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. The fair is open until 11 p.m. nightly
