Basket Bingo set for spay, neuter assistance program

Staff Report

GALLIPOLIS — Basket Bingo games fundraiser for the Spay Neuter Assistance Program of Gallia County (SNAP) will take place Thursday at the fellowship hall of New Life Lutheran Church.

Doors will open at 5 p.m. and the games will begin at 6 p.m. The church is located at 900 Jackson Pike, Gallipolis.

The 20 games are $20. There will also be a couple of special games at extra charge. In addition, there will be items for auction, door prizes, and homemade food.

All proceeds support the efforts of SNAP, a non-profit 501c3 all volunteer organization. In cooperation with Riverbend Animal Clinic and French Town Veterinary Clinic, SNAP has made it possible for 1,712 cats and 269 dogs to date to be spayed or neutered.

The mission of SNAP is prevention. The group encourages pet adoption, but by preventing unwanted litters of puppies and kittens, the opportunity increases for adult dogs and cats to get loving responsible owners. Cat overpopulation is a huge problem in Gallia County as cats can breed as young as 4½ months and can have three litters in one year. Gallia County has no cat shelter, which compounds the problem.

Monetary donations are welcome and appreciated and are tax-deductible in accordance with IRS directives. They may be mailed to P.O. Box 86, Gallipolis, OH 45631. Receipts are mailed in a timely manner.
