GALLIPOLIS — The Beta Alpha Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma met May 13 at Grace United Methodist Church in Gallipolis.
A meal prepared by the ladies of the church was enjoyed prior to a short business meeting.
Scholarship applications are available for college students planning on student teaching next school year. Interested parties should contact Karen Waugh. Members are encouraged to check out the state website. A field trip planning meeting will be June 1 at Blennerhassett Island. Members interested in attending should contact Lois Carter.
After the meeting, the members retired to the chapel for the initiation of the following new members: Patricia Young, Kay Adkins, Julie Dragoo, Beth James and Diane Fleming.
A memorial service was conducted honoring Ann Sickels and Wanda Willis. New officers were installed as follows: President – Lynn Arnott; first vice president – Cathy Greenleaf; second vice president – Donna DeWitt; Recording secretary – Deborah Kerwood; corresponding secretary – Karen Cornell; treasurer – Helenlu Morgan; assistant treasurer – Vickie Powell; historian – Doris Lanham; parliamentarian – Dorothy Ruff; immediate past president – Lois Carter.
Previous officers were thanked for their service to the organization: Lois Carter , president; Vickie Powell – treasurer; and Geri Howell, recording secretary.
The September meeting will be 6:30 p.m. Sept. 9 at Raccoon Creekside Cottage “Meade-Me-at-the-Dam” in Vinton. Reservations are due to DeWitt by Sept. 2.
There will be a tour of Common Grounds prior to the meeting at 5:15 p.m. Amy Sisson from Wing Haven will be the featured speaker.
