4-H equine clubs march to new stalls

Staff Report

RIO GRANDE — Recently members of the Gallia County Equine 4-H clubs walked their way toward their goal of new stalls in the Thomas Do-It-Center Horse Barn. Members provided horses for the Bob Evans Farm Festival where they gave lead rides. Members, advisors, parents, volunteers and members of the Gallipolis FFA led over 1400 rides during Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Bob Evans Farm Festival invited the organization to bring back the favored lead rides and have already invited them to return for the 2019 Farm Festival.

The Gallia County Equine 4-H clubs and Gallia County Youth Horse Committee are working to raise approximately $60,000 for stalls and arena project. The Thomas Do-It-Center donated and built a new horse barn on the new fairgrounds site. The new barn will eventually be available for year round use with an adjacent covered arena. This will open up opportunities for additional horse related activities and shows once the barn, arena and infrastructure projects are completed.

The Gallia County Horse Clubs are accepting new members for the 2019. These kids and volunteers have been working to raise these funds through events, private donations, sponsorship and online fundraising site. Donations for this project can be made in monthly installments or one time donation at http://app.donorview.com/zJl9 if you would like to help.
