There were 26 individuals, including 17 members of the 1952 class of Gallia Academy High School, who attended the school’s 65th class reunion on Saturday July 15 at the Quality Inn in Kanauga.
Wendell Thomas served as master of ceremonies, G. Richard Brown gave the invocation.
Thomas introduced members of the 1952 class who gave brief summaries of their lives over the past 65 years. Marilene Thivener Young awarded prizes to the following: Carol Roush Sanders, who traveled the longest distance from Florida; Most Grandchildren, Tom Thompson, 10; Oldest Great Grandchild, Luella Hughes Saunders and Susie Wilcoxen Lanier, 11; and youngest class member present, Jimmy Allen, 82.
Although no action was taken, members discussed having a 70 reunion in 2022, when most survivors would be 88 years old.
Members of the reunion committee were Wendell and Lois Thomas, Luella Hughes Sanders, Nina Sanders Jeffers, Hobart Wilson Jr., Jimmy Allen, and Marilene Thivener Young.
Wendell Thomas closed the event by leading the group in singing the GAHS Alma Mater.
