GALLIPOLIS — It’s summer and time for Drew Hastings to deliver with his one man comedy show at the historic Ariel Opera House on Friday, July 14 at 7 p.m.
A veteran stand-up comic for over two decades, critically acclaimed comedian Drew Hastings brings his brand of humor to Gallipolis on one night only. Hastings will provide anecdotes, commentary on the American scene and read from his upcoming book. As a comedian, Hastings has been a well-known stand-up for television comedy specials, Tonight Show appearances, and he’s a regular favorite on the national Bob & Tom Radio Show.
Hastings moved from Los Angeles to a farm outside Hillsboro in 2008. He began purchasing and renovating property in the city, and eventually decided to run for mayor as a Republican. In 2011, he won a three-way GOP primary, and then defeated independent candidate and former Hillsboro city council member John Levo in the General Election with 62 percent of the vote. He has been elected twice a mayor of Hillsboro.
In a separate story in the Times-Gazette after the election, Hastings said the biggest thing he learned through his re-election bid is humility. He said he is honored by “people I don’t even know, but who believe in what I’m doing and what our team is doing and voted for that.”
Tickets for the Drew Hastings comedy show are $25 and $20 and are available online at arieloperahouse.org or at the Ariel Opera House box office located at 428 Second Avenue in downtown Gallipolis.
