Beta Alpha Chapter welcomes new members

GALLIPOLIS — The Beta Alpha Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma (DKG) met on May 12 at the Grace United Methodist Church.

After President Lynn Arnott called the meeting to order, the program chair Jane Ann Slagle led the group in prayer and devotion. The special guests to be initiated as new members were: Gina Tillis, Lisa Schwall, Sandy Perry, Anita Fisher and Amilda Thompson. Hostess chair Jane Ann Slagle and committee members Peggy Huber, Andrea Gannaway, Debbie Rhodes, Jenny Tenney, and Ashley Davies served a meal. Following the meal and a short business meeting, the initiation service for the new members was held in the chapel of Grace United Methodist Church. The meeting was adjourned with the singing of the DKG song.

The March 2018 joint meeting in which the Beta Alpha Chapter is the host is in the planning stages. It is being planned to be held at the Bossard Library. Debbie Canter will be invited as the guest speaker.There are changes to the September 8 meeting. It will be at the University of Rio Grande in the Greer Museum with Josie Bapst as hostess chair. The chapter asks members to make a note in your DKG handbook.

The next DKG meeting will be on June 7 at The Inn at Cedar Falls in Hocking Hills. A meet and greet will begin at 11:30 a.m. followed by a presentation on the history of the inn and the Hocking Hills area at 11:45 a.m. A lunch buffet of sandwiches, salad, chips, cookies and brownies will be served at noon. The cost will be $17.95 per person which includes a gratuity. There will be a tour of the facility from 1 – 1:30 p.m. followed by a planning meeting. The activities for the day will end with a short drive and then a walk to Ash Cave. Reservations should be made to Donna DeWitt at or 740-853-0974 or 740-388-8327 no later than May 31.
