GALLIPOLIS — Gallipolis Junior Women’s Club is set to host its spring fundraiser at Silver Screen VII on Saturday, April 8.
Tickets can be purchased at the door for $8 a person, gaining entry into one of two showings of the film “Boss Baby.” There will be two showings, one at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Patrons will also receive a small drink and popcorn and can take their picture with the Easter Bunny.
Club members say they strive to provide activities and charity for the improvement of the local community. While they have many projects in the works, funds from this particular event on Saturday are not earmarked for any specific item. One major item the group is working towards is improving the Gallipolis Municipal City Pool this season.
The Gallipolis Junior Women’s Club has been established in Gallia County since 1958, striving to serve the community. According to Vice President Elisha Orsbon the organization membership was in single digits in the early 1980’s and is currently in the 60’s. Former President Faith McKinniss (1995) recalled her time in JWC as being a part of a very large group, being involved in many projects including the Buddy Bear program which provided stuffed teddy bears in hospitals for children.
If anyone is interested in joining the JWC they can go their website, email the group at firstname.lastname@example.org, or search for them up on Facebook.
