GALLIPOLIS —The Gallia County Retired Teachers met on Oct. 13 at the Nazarene Church in Gallipolis for a noon meal catered by The Colony Club.

Forty-one members and one guest were in attendance. Debbie Rhodes led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag and Rick Howell gave the blessing before the meal. September and October birthdays recognized were: Glen Graham, Jackie Graham, Ellen Schopis, and Julie Dragoo. Get well wishes were expressed for: Mary Withee and Irene Surber.

Donations were collected for the Snack Pack program and the scholarship fund. Melvin Biars ,of Floral Fashions, in Gallipolis was the guest speaker. He gave an enthusiastic and entertaining presentation of items that are available in his shop for expressions of sympathy, holidays and gift giving for all occasions. Melvin also provided several door prizes to the delight of the audience.

A drawing was held to raise money for the mailing of the newsletter prior to the conclusion of the meeting. The next meeting will be on Dec. 1 at noon at the Vinton Baptist Church.
