CENTENARY — Kaci Rae Ager, the daughter of Kelly and Elizabeth Ager, of Bidwell, has been named the recipient of the Leonard Newberry “Farmers Heart” Memorial Scholarship.
Ager will receive a $500 scholarship to attend Ohio State University at ATI where she will pursue a degree in animal science with a focus of livestock in the area of large ruminant nutrition.
Ager attended Gallia Academy High School where he served in many clubs including but not limited to FFA, FCCLA and National Honor Society. She also was involved in other organizations relating to her degree of choices such as Agricultural Sales, Urban Soils, livestock judging, Parliamentary Procedure and Envirathon.
The scholarship was formed in remembrance of Leonard Newberry, a dedicated farmer in Gallia County who believed in the American dream to further education and pursue goals. It is funded by Newberry’s family who wanted to use his life to symbolize a farmer’s journey in learning agriculture.
