George Bailey, 79, Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013, in Holzer Senior Care, Gallipolis. Born December 3, 1932, at Maysburg, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Basil and Josephine (Voreh) Bailey. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and received an Associate Degree from Columbus Technical Institute, Columbus, Ohio after which he worked for the OSU Public Safety Department for 30 years before his retirement in 1984. George married Margo Brabander August 30, 1957, in Miesnbach, Germany, and she preceded him in death October 15, 2002.

He is survived by his son, Arthur (Diane) Bailey, Mansfield, Ohio; granddaughter, Shawn (Eric) Hayes, Radnor, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Autumn and Eric Hayes, Jr., Radnor, Ohio; brother, William, Columbus, Ohio; sister, Betty Elkins, Columbus, Ohio; and brother-in-law, Don Gregerson, Corvallis, Oregon.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Basil, Jr. and three sisters, Mary Meade, Phyllis Steffanoli, Jeanette Gregerson.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013, at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis with Rev. Alfred Holley officiating. Entombment will follow in the Ohio Valley Memory Gardens, Gallipolis. Military Graveside Rites to be conducted by the Gallia County Veterans Service Organizations. Friends and family may call at the funeral home 11:30 a.m. Friday until the time of service.
