Bessie M. Mannon, 94, Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away Friday, February 8, 2013, in Holzer Senior Care Center. She was born June 2, 1918, in Hamlin, West Virginia, daughter of the late Gilbert and Nora (Salmons) Lucas. She was formerly an employee of Star Cross Canning Factory and a member of the First Baptist Church, Gallipolis. Bessie married O’Dell Mannon in Catlettsburg, Kentucky, in 1936, and he preceded her in death in 1965.
She is survived by three sons, Gary (Barb) Mannon, Perrysburg, Ohio, Richard (Sharon) Mannon, Walbridge, Ohio, and Michael Mannon, Bradner, Ohio; two daughters, Norma Rossiter, Crown City, Ohio, and Patricia Cremeans, Kanauga, Ohio; seventeen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Hershal and Herman Lucas, both of Proctorville, Ohio, and a daughter-in-law, Shirley Mannon, Perrysburg, Ohio.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Donald Mannon in 1984; a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter; a sister, Lilli Lucas Mannon, and sons-in-law, Merrill Rossiter and Michael Cremeans.
Grave Side Services will be held at 12 p.m., Tuesday, February 12, 2013, in the Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, Ohio, with Rev. Alvis Pollard officiating. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation. The McCoy-Moore Funeral Home is honored to serve the Mannon Family.
