Roger D. Williams, 62, of Pickerington, died on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at Mount Carmel East Hospital. He was born on October 13, 1950, in Gallipolis, Ohio.

Roger is preceded in death by his father, Roger, and his in-laws, Bob and Minnie Mackenzie. He is survived by his mother, Catherine Williams; his wife, Sue Ann Williams; son, Dr. Ty (Peter Golden) Williams; daughter, Susie Williams; grandson, Zack “ZZ Top” Mathew; brothers, Ken (Carol) Williams and Gary (MaryAnne) Williams; sister-in-law, Beth (Mark) Blackmer, and brother-in-law, Robb Mackenzie, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Roger started working for Bob Evans Farms, Inc., as a busboy at the original restaurant in Rio Grande, Ohio, while still in high school. After graduating from the University of Rio Grande in 1972, he worked his way up from an hourly employee to the role of President of Bob Evans Farms Restaurants, which was the title he held when he retired in 2009 after 41 years of service. He dedicated over 30 years of service acting as a member and President of the Board of Trustees as well as Chairman of a Capital Campaign and Executive Committee for the University of Rio Grande. He received an Honorary Doctorate from Rio in 1995. He also was a past President of the Board of Directors at the Columbus Country Club and was on the Board of Directors for the Lecere Corp. Roger was currently serving on the Ohio Valley Bank Board of Directors and Strategic Planning Committee.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff of the 2E CCU floor at MCEH for their kindness to Roger and his family during his brief time there.

His family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, February 1, 2013, at the Dwayne R. Spence Funeral Home, 550 Hill Road North, Pickerington. There will also be a calling hour from 10-11 a.m. and a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at the Peace United Methodist Church, 235 Diley Road NW, Pickerington, with the Rev. Douglas Shriner officiating. The graveside service will be held immediately following at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 5600 E. Broad Street.
