Helen Clark Russell, age 95, of Dayton, died Thursday morning, December 20, 2012, at Bethany Village in Dayton. Born January 13, 1917, in Columbus, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Vinton and Alice Howe Clark. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Cosper B. Russell.

Helen was a graduate of Rio Grande College.

She was a retired school teacher, retiring after 42 years of service, from the Oakview Elementary School. Following retirement, Helen worked for over 25 years as a volunteer at Miami Valley Hospital. She was a member of St. George’s Episcopal Church, and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Prior to moving to Dayton, Helen was a member of the Patriot Methodist Church.

She is survived by many cousins and friends, and her loving caregivers, Dana and Billie Beekman.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 23, 2012, in Pine Street Cemetery with Rev. Leslie Fleming officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Dana Beekman, 2300 East Stroop Road, Kettering, Ohio 45440, to purchase a permanent memorial in Helen’s memory for Oakview Elementary School.

Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral home is assisting the family with Helen’s arrangements.
