The Concord University football team landed a pair of standouts off of the 2012 Class A state champion Wahama White Falcons Monday, as Trenton Gibbs and Zach Wamsley signed letters of intent to join the Roar. Wamsley will be continuing his football career at the middle linebacker position, a spot where he was named All-State first team Captain this season for the Red and White. Gibbs, who was named All-State second teams defensive back, will be continuing his role on the offensive side of the ball as the quarterback. Wamsley noted the decision to choose Concord wasn’t difficult. “The campus is really nice,” Wamsley said. “It reminds me a lot of where I’m from, there’s not a lot of people around and it’s a tight knit community.” Zach is the son of Greg and Nancy Wamsley and he plans to pursue a degree in physical therapy. Gibbs mentioned many reasons why Concord was the right choice for him. ” The coaching staff is great, it’s close to home and they have top of the line education,” Gibbs said. “They have a great football program and they have showed me a lot of respect. It’s a good fit and I can get some playing time and farther my football career there.” Trenton is the son of Teresa and Harold Gibbs and also plans in pursuing a physical therapy degree. Concord University is a member of the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in NCAA Division II. The Roar finished with a mark of 7-4 last season.
