Marshall University did a little double-dipping in Mason County Friday afternoon, as Point Pleasant seniors Andrea Porter and Brady Reymond signed letters of intent with the Thundering Herd in the PPJSHS auditorium. Porter — who owns the Lady Knights’ school records in the 800-meter run, 1,600m run, 3,200m run and also in cross country — will be continuing her athletic career in track and field, while Reymond — a two-time Class AA goalkeeper of the year as a sophomore and junior who also received second-team honors in Class AAA this past fall — will be doing the same for the MU soccer program. Porter — who also recently reached 1,000 points during her prep basketball career — noted that the decision to attend Marshall was a pretty easy one to make. “When I met with the coaches and the other athletes, it felt really comfortable. It’s close to home, which should make for an easy transition, and my parents are alums of Marshall. I just knew it was the perfect fit for me too.” Andrea, the daughter of Jeff and Jessica Porter of Point Pleasant, plans on majoring in nursing. Brady — whose parents, Brian and Bridget Reymond, are also Marshall alums — was also quick to point out that family, location and chance were all deciding factors in his choice to continue playing soccer for the Herd. “My parents and other family members have attended Marshall, and I knew after my first unofficial visit that Marshall was the place for me and that was it. Besides the family lineage, it’s close to home and there are a lot of opportunities there for me over the next four years and down the road.” Reymond is currently undecided on a major.
