Carl Lee “Sonny” Morrison, 76, Kerr, Ohio, passed away at home on Wednesday, December 27, 2012, after a lengthy illness. He was born October 6, 1936, in Taylorsville, North Carolina, son of the late Carl and Melvia (Howell) Morrison.

Carl is survived by a son, Richard Hurt, Gallipolis; three daughters, Karen Walter, Bidwell; Marlene Hurt, Point Pleasant and Dorothy Hurt, Gallipolis; seven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry Morrison, Gallipolis, and three sisters, Maudine (Calvin) Minnis, Bidwell, Geraldine Cordell, Gallipolis, and Odessa Morrison, Bidwell; several cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles, Calvin, Robert and Clayton Morrison; five sisters, Grace Alexander, Helen Morrison, Carrie Morrison, Evelyn Morrison and Gladys Gehring; and his companion of more than thirty years, Mary Hurt.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, December 29, 2012, in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis, with Rev. Calvin Minnis officiating. Burial will follow in Morgan Bethel Cemetery, Bidwell. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Saturday at 10 a.m. until the time of service.
