Deputies with the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office, officers with the Middleport Police Department, along with volunteers with the Gallipolis Fire Department aided the Gallipolis Police Department on Wednesday night in the neutralization of an active meth lab that was discovered at a Neil Avenue residence.

GALLIPOLIS — Two individuals were arrested on Wednesday night by officers with the Gallipolis Police Department after an active meth lab was discovered in the city.
According to a press release issued by the Police Department on Thursday, the arrests were made late on Wednesday evening after officers arrived at the Neil Avenue residence to serve an arrest warrant at approximately 10:56 p.m.
During the course of serving the warrant, the officers discovered an active meth lab in the house.
A team of deputies and officers with the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office and Middleport Police Department, along with members of the Gallipolis Fire Department, responded to the scene to neutralize the contents of the lab.
Arrested at the scene were Trentin Caldwell, 21, Gallipolis, and Ravyn Barr, 26, of Gallipolis. Both subjects are expected to be charged with the manufacturing of methamphetamine.
Caldwell was also arrested on a bench warrant from the Gallipolis Municipal Court for failing to appear on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon.
Officers are also consulting with the office of Gallia County Prosecutor Jeff Adkins concerning the possibility of additional charges against the pair.
While several active meth labs have been discovered within Gallia County, Wednesday’s discovery marks the first meth lab to be found by law enforcement inside the municipality.
“With the department’s aggressive program of drug enforcement, we have been very lucky that we have not had to deal with a situation like this,” Gallipolis Police Chief Clint Patterson stated.
Patterson further commented on the multi-agency response and thanked those who assisted the police department in the cleanup on the lab.
According to the Gallia County Sheriff’s website, Caldwell is currently being held in the Gallia County Jail, while Barr is being housed at the Gallia County Work Release Center.
