Hannan drops tri-match at Burch

DELBARTON, W.Va. — The Hannan volleyball team (3-18) dropped both matches in a tri-match at Burch on Tuesday evening.

Burch defeated Hannan by scores of 25-14, 19-25, and 25-14.

Samantha Blain had seven points (one ace) for the Lady Cats, followed by Katie Ellis with six points (two aces), Jazi Casto with four points, Stephanie Dillon and Jasmine Campbell each had two points, and Emily Holley and Jasmine Weise each had one point.

Dillon had six spikes (one kill) and Blain had four spikes. Katie Ellis had eight sets, while Blain and Heather Ellis each had one.

Blain had seven digs, Katie Ellis had four digs, Dillon and Weise each added three digs, Campbell, Tiffany Adkins, and Casto each had two digs, and Heather Ellis had one dig.

In the match against Westside, the Lady Cats were defeated by scores of 25-16 and 25-18.

Blain led the team with six points (three aces), followed by Heather Ellis with three, Dillon, Weise, and Casto with two each, and Campbell with one.

Blain had three spikes, Katie Ellis had two, and Dillon had one (one kill). Heather Ellis had five sets and Katie Ellis had two. Blain had five digs, Weise and Katie Ellis each had four, Dillon had three, Heather Ellis, Brittany Samarroco, and Campbell each had two, and Casto had one.

OVCS falls to Parkersburg Christian

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — The Ohio Valley Christian volleyball team suffered a heartbreaking 26-28, 25-23, 25-17, 10-25, 12-15 setback to host Parkersburg Christian on Tuesday night in a non-conference matchup in Wood County.

The visiting Lady Defenders fell to 10-4 overall this season despite putting in a hard-fought battle against the hosts. OVCS recorded team numbers of 44 kills, 40 assists, 13 aces and three blocks in the setback.

Allie Hamilton led the OVCS service attack with 19 points, followed by 18 apiece from Sarah Schoonover and Maggie Westfall. Madison Crank contributed 16 points and Amy Ours added 13 more in the setback. Samantha Westfall and Beth Martin added nine and five, respectively.

Both Westfalls led the net attack with a dozen kills apiece, followed by Crank with eight kills. Hamilton and Schoonover both had five kills each, while Martin added two.

Maggie Westfall also had team-bests of 22 assists and two blocks. Samantha Westfall also had 17 assists.
