Lady Raiders, Point Pleasant win team titles at HCSM meet

POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. — Point Pleasant, Eastern, River Valley, and Hannan track teams competed at the Holzer Clinic Sports Medicine Tuesday meet at Point Pleasant High School on Tuesday evening.

The River Valley Lady Raiders took first in the girls competition with 135.50 points. Eastern came in third with 78.50 points and Point Pleasant finished sixth with 59.50 points.

River Valley’s Jessica Hager (100m hurdles and 200m dash), Jai Nai Fields (400m dash), Sara Mares (3200, run), and Kaitlyn Roberts (discus) each took first place. Roberts set a stadium record in the discus with a throw of 111 feet 7 inches. The 4x200m and 4x800m relay teams also finished first.

Cara Hesson took first place for the Lady Knights in the 100m dash, with the 4x100m relay team also taking first.

Eastern’s Emeri Connery (1600m run), Audrionna Pullins (long jump), and Ashley Putnam (shot put) each won first in their events, with the 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams also taking first.

Second place finishers for the River Valley girls were Riley Hollingsworth (1600m run), Martine Kverven (3200m run), Hager (300m hurdles), and the 4x400m relay team. Taking second place for Point Pleasant were Sarah Wamsley (long jump) and Alea Hipes (shot put). Victoria Boso finished second in the 400m dash for the Lady Eagles.

In third for River Valley were Mares (high jump), Aubrie Rice (long jump), and the 4x102.5m shuttle hurdles. Wamsley (200m dash) and Dakota Martin (shot put) came in third for the Lady Knights. For Eastern, Putnam finished third in the discus and the 4x200m relay team came in third.

Kelsey Sands (200m dash), Roberts (shot put), and the 4x100m relay team came in fourth for the Lady Raiders. Nikki Gilbride took fourth in the 800m run for the Lady Eagles.

On the boys side, Point Pleasant won with a total score of 177.50 points. Eastern finished fifth with 58 points, River Valley had 36 points, and Hannan came in seventh with 12 points.

Point Pleasant’s Nathan Roberts (100m dash), Zach Canterbury (400m), Chauncey McClanahan (110m and 300m hurdles), Matthew McCormick (pole vault), and Dustin Spencer (discus) each took first place. PPHS was also victorious in the 4x100m, 4x200m, and 4x400m relays.

Aaron Harrison place first in the long jump for River Valley, and Tyler Cline took first in the shot put for Eastern.

Second place finishers for Point were John Kinnaird (800m run), Morgan Flora (pole vault), and Chris Blankenship (long jump). The 4x800m and 4x110m shuttle hurdle relays teams also took second for Point Pleasant. For River Valley, Parker Hollingsworth took second in the 110m and 300m hurdles. Eastern’s Brayden Pratt took second in the 1600m run and the 4x100m relay team finished second.

Hannan’s Robert Warth finished second in the 400m dash and fourth in the discus.

In third place for Point Pleasant were Roberts (200m dash), Kinnaird (400m dash), Christian Woods (3200m run), Noah Searls (pole vault), Brady Reymond (long jump), and Spencer (shot put). Blankenship (200m) and Payne (shot put) each finished fourth.

River Valley’s Harrison took third in the 100m dash. The Eagles Travis Edwards took third place in the 800m and 1600m runs, and the 4x400m relay team placed third. Klint Connery finished fourth in the 100m dash and Pratt came in fourth in the 800m run.
